Women of Style: Cindy Schwartz, Barneys New York

Anyone who follows fashion in Chicago & beyond, from fashionistas, corporate powerhouses to fashion students who want to learn from one of the best, leaves their footprint at the door of Barneys New York on Oak Street. The name behind the name for the last 16 years is the Vice President/General Manager Cindy Schwartz whose own style of elegance & simplicity is one many of us would like to emulate. I have been working with Cindy & Barneys since my days as the Founding Fashion Editor at CS & my fashion segment at NBC5 and she has always been the ultimate professional & a great supporter of my work. We sat down together recently to uncover some of her  fashion secrets & have some laughs.

Barbara Glass:  Complete this sentence: Style is.....
Cindy Schwartz:  Self Expression

BG:  What is the one item that you can't live without in your closet?
CS:  “Row” t shirts    (Mary Kate and Ashley’s line, they make the perfect t shirt)

BG:  What is your favorite place to shop in Chicago besides Barneys?
CS:  Robin Richman……I love her aesthetic

BG:  A perfect outfit for me is.......
CS:  Interesting feminine tops, beautiful tailored pants, flat shoes and chunky jewelry

BG:  What trend would you like to see disappear?
CS:  Really short skirts and 5” platforms

BG:  Tell me something about you that would surprise people:
CS:  I am outdoorsy, I love to hike and canoe.

Thanks again to Cindy for being a great friend and a great supporter!
